The magic of the whole thing... they're online... they keep working... you go do what
you want!
* If you prefer a software program you can load on your computer, instead of a web based program, check out
the free downloads at Auction Station . You can select a sniping browser, an auction manager,
and an ad builder.
.
If you want total control right
from your PC and are aggressive enough to pay for an installable program, try iSnipeIt. At $31.95 (on ebay) it's still a huge bargain with all the features it has to offer. |
Now, back to the web based snipers. For example,
here's how SnipeIt! works. Once you have it configured, all you have to do is find the auction page on eBay, click
on the SnipeIt! icon, and SnipeIt! will automatically load the auction into the SnipeIt! form. Next, you fill in
the your bid amount, and set the time you want it to bid (We like to set it for about 10 seconds). When the scheduled
time comes up... whamo... your bid is entered!
That's it! SnipeIt! is set to win the bid, and won't bid higher than you set it. Keep in mind
that this is proxy bidding and SnipeIt! only bids high enough to win. It doesn't necessarily bid the highest bid
you set. If the bidding goes higher than the amount you set, it will stop bidding.
Your days of losing bids are over!
Wait a minute! What about step one? ... "Find all the items that are the same and pick out the
one you think is the best deal". Well, finding the item you're looking for, is easy. eBay has many search
tools built into the system... by category... by item... and by selling date. There's no need to browse page after
page of listings to find what you want. The best way to find stuff is to search... learn how to use eBay's search
tools and use them. You'll find search boxes at the top of their home page
and on every listing page.
But, that's not the best way! If you want to find similar items on a bunch of different
auctions at once, you can use an auction spider. There are several on the internet. Many times, it's even faster
to use a spider to find the item you want, than to use the search tools on eBay. eBay is always slow, but their
built-in search engine can be absolutely painful.
One that we use is... AuctionHawk
They're also the folks that bring you AuctionSniper
listed above...
but you can use their search feature for free.
After you find the item you want, decide on the highest price you would pay for the item
and write it down, along with the item number ... BUT ... DON'T BID ... just set up your snipe bid. If you go ahead
and bid, you'll probably end up paying too much. If another bidder is using a proxy bid, the bid will automatically
be raised, but the other bidder may still have the high bid. Then you'll have to start "chasing" the
bid. If you finally get to be high bidder, there will still be time for someone else to outbid you. It's better
to hold your bid until the last few seconds of the auction... snipe it... and hope for the best. You'll still lose
some auctions to more agressive bidders, but you'll win a lot more and usually pay a lot less.
Our recommendations of any program is based
on actual use and testing. We recommend the Auction Tamer Browser and
the BidTamer and SnipeIt! bidding
systems, simply because they are tried and true and have so many advantages over the PC resident programs we have
tried... but don't overlook Bidnapper
and AuctionStealer. They might be new, but they're coming on strong.
Thanks for joining our jolly band of snipers.
We hope you have some fun with it
and snipe some great buys.
