Manual Signatures
More people use the auto-signature than the manual method, but we want to make sure
you realize this more effective method is available. It's also easy to use, and some people prefer to manually
add a signature. Remember that we said a "Signature" is just a small quick-hitting advertisement. Any
small 2 or 3 line paragraph can be considered as such. The name signature probably came up when the original designers
thought it would be nice to save some time in signing off every time they sent an email. They may not have even
envisioned how far agressive marketers could take a single idea. The reason we said "preferable" above
is that a manual signature is more flexible and effective. Remember the sample signature that we showed you on
the previous page?

Well that would have to be inserted as a manual signature. Why? Because
Ebay Beasttamers Club! is intended
to be a link (it's not a working link in this discussion). In other words, that phrase would be hyperlinked to
your opening web page so when anyone clicks on it, they are taken to the first page of your sales pitch. Most auto-signature
systems won't do that, so you would have to use the exact URL in the signature. This isn't always as motivating
as a line of "selling text". Let us show you what an auto-signature of the above may have to look like.

The auto-signature tool works fine, and as an "automatic" tool it has
huge advantages (in not forgetting to manually insert the signature), but it's not as esthetically pleasing as the first example. This method can be typed right
into your auto-signature system, but the first example would need to be typed into some text holder (or even just
an email in your drafts folder that you don't plan to send) that allows hyperlinks so it can be copy/pasted as
you need it.
